>The site seems to be in limbo. We feel a void. The ground is given a bit of rest. This allows us to gaze the whereabouts, the Loire, the city centre but also the entrails of the block. If there wasn’t any fence we would tend to use this wasteland as a short cut: it leads directly to the “rue de la Tour d’Auvergne” on the other side of the block [as for another wasteland near the Lieu Unique in Nantes where the short cut tracks have become paths]

>Among the other noteworthy elements, there is this unexpected lake right in the middle resulting from the demolishing of the former building. The volume is not trivial. Filling up this hole would be a consequent act.

>This naked site also reveals the blind walls of the adjoining parcels. Three sections are thus completely blocked.

>Le site semble être en attente. On sent un vide. On a laissé un peu de répit au sol. Cela permet de contempler les alentours, la Loire, le centre-ville mais aussi les entrailles de l’îlot. S’il n’y avait pas de clôture, on aurait tendance à utiliser le terrain vague comme un raccourci : il donne directement sur la rue de la Tour d’Auvergne [comme pour un terrain vague situé près du LU à Nantes, où les traces du raccourci sont devenues un sentier]

>Parmi les autres éléments remarquables de l’endroit, il y a cette grande marre en plein milieu résultant du démantèlement du bâtiment d’avant. Ce volume n’est pas négligeable. Remblayer ce trou serait un geste conséquent.

>Le site mis à nu révèle aussi les murs aveugles des parcelles mitoyennes. Trois pans sont ainsi totalement remplis.
